A story about Candy. And Courage. And saving the world.
Sometimes you have to break the rules to mend a planet.
The Moon Candy Rebellion
It's a sweet story with a chewy center.
Brian Fitzgerald and Iris Maertens wrote and illustrated The Moon Candy Rebellion to share a very slim (but expanding!) shelf in children's literature with books that have a girl hero, and which champion the courage to speak up, take action, and lead when the world is misbehaving.
We looked to Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, The Adventures of Pippi Longstockings, and a handful of other great books that celebrate the rebel, the unconventional thinker, the beautiful disruptor.
The world needs more grown ups with the kind of optimism, confidence, radical courage and creativity shown by "One little girl who didn't think it quite right..."
If you are reading this, you probably heard one of us read this story at a Dancing Fox Playshop or Training. Or at a Story Night open Mic. Or you stumbled on one of the very rare pre-publication copies.
Well, the bad news is that The Moon Candy Rebellion isn't yet available... We don't want to put it on Amazon and feed the corporate machine of yet another billionaire. So we need to find a publisher we love, and who shares our values, and believes in this little story. When we find one, we'll let you know. If you have suggestions, let US know!

A New Power Fable
It's a story in which New Power -- sharing, diversity, community, and connection -- triumphs over old power: consumerism, isolation, and me-ism. (We know, that's a lot of ISMs for a kid's book, but trust us, it's a bedtime story, not a lecture.)
If you'd like to help get this story out into the world,
you're a Moon Candy Rebel and we need you.

Don't miss the launch
There's a saying in Spanish, "The Blacksmiths knives are made of wood." We've been busy helping other non-profits tell their stories, and have not made time to tell our own. That WILL eventually change if we can find a publisher we love. Sign up to the newsletter to find out when we do, and help turn the Moon Candy Rebellion into a real live picture book.
All love. No spam.
